She has conducted workshops in ‘physical theatre’ to help the participants express themselves, and often times distress. Jyoti uses ‘Sufi’, ‘Dance’, ‘Theatre’, ‘Meditation’, etc. as the means of relaxation and for setting the rhythm of life..
Children and their development has special place in her career. Creativity and expressive art are at the core of all the work Jyoti has done with children since 1992. She has been associated with organizations working on the principles of inclusive education, with mentally and physically challenged as well as with less fortunate children. Over the years she has developed her own methods in “Expressive Art therapy” and has employed those in her day-to-day activities. Her approach is to use arts and free flowing expressions as the means for establishing balance between body, mind and soul.
Jyoti has given many professional performances in dance, has worked in theatre, television serials and physical theatre as well as has been part of shows on the national radio network. She does modeling for print and television advertisements. She has also been part of teams that organized beauty pageants and other art events.
The insights she developed in the ‘differently able’ children were useful while she wrote her Marathi book ‘Me, Welington Aani Rahasya’ expressing the thought process in the head of an autistic boy.
Jyoti has her own company by the name ‘’Swalaya’’. ‘Swalaya’ gives exposure to various expressive mediums with which the journey of ‘self-quest’ and self-rhythm becomes dynamic. ‘Swalaya’ offers exposure to different art forms to help one; rejuvenate, to live qualitative life! Her activities in ‘’Swalaya’’ include the unique concepts for *Movementation (meditation through movements); *Art Appreciation; *Art in Education; *Expressive Art Therapy!
